Humanity seems to have been abolished. In Elfriede Jelinek’s new play Unter Tieren (Among Animals), others take the stage instead: bear and cow, rat and pig, badger, dolphin, dove, and many more. „The Bear Pun,“ the „Lamb of God“ and the „Pros and Rams“ also make an appearance. They all cast their gaze upon something deeply human: capitalism and its mechanisms. With a mixture of disbelief and growing sarcasm, the animals follow the trail of money—from the Bible to Benko, from SV Mattersburg to Sigi Wolf—showing how money rules the world and, by now, even outer space.

In collaboration with the Salzburg Festival, director Nicolas Stemann brings the text to the stage together with an ensemble brimming with performance energy.
