As the winner of the 2021 Warsaw Chopin Competition, Bruce Liu has established himself as one of the most exciting pianists of his generation. Following his acclaimed solo recital last season, the Canadian pianist of Chinese descent, born in Paris in 1997, returns to the Musikverein as soloist in Chopin's First Piano Concerto. The concert, performed by the ORF RSO Vienna and conducted by Marin Alsop, will also feature excerpts from Sergei Prokofiev's ballet suites for “Romeo and Juliet“ and Friedrich Cerha's “Three Movements for Orchestra.“ The great composer, who died in 2023, would have celebrated his 100th birthday in February 2026.
