Mozart’s timeless masterpiece The Magic Flute combines fairytale fantasy with Enlightenment ideals and has been one of the world’s most beloved operas since its premiere in Vienna in 1791.

The story follows Prince Tamino on his quest to rescue the beautiful Pamina from the powerful Sarastro. By his side is the endearing bird-catcher Papageno, who longs only for a companion in life. Along the way, they encounter trials of fire and water, wisdom and enlightenment, and the dark vengeance of the Queen of the Night – whose dazzling arias have become some of the most famous in opera history.

Mozart’s music gives radiant voice to this journey: from the tender aria Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön to the magical sounds of Papageno’s bells and the thrilling coloraturas of the Queen of the Night. Humor, love, magic, and humanity all merge into an opera that continues to captivate audiences of all ages.

Semperoper Dresden – A Jewel of European Opera Culture

The Semperoper Dresden is one of Europe’s most renowned opera houses and a masterpiece of historicist architecture. Located in the heart of Dresden’s Old Town on the beautiful Theaterplatz, it captivates visitors with its majestic façade, exceptional acoustics, and a diverse program of the highest artistic quality.

Designed by Gottfried Semper, the opera house first opened in 1841. After being destroyed and rebuilt multiple times – most recently after World War II – it was faithfully restored and reopened in 1985.
